How to get to the museum?

The museum is located in the city center; on the first floor in the Tietz, Moritzstraße 20. The cash register for the museum can also be found there.

You reach us easily with public transportation. Use the stop Zentralhaltestelle. A timetable information about the individual transport routes can be found at www.cvag.de

Parking space is available at the surrounding car parks (cost dependant on the provider) in the city center, or at the parking lot directly by the museum (0,50 €/ 20 min).

Who has free admission to the museum?

The museum gives free admission to:

  • Children and adolescents until the completion of their 18th year
  • Students, including students of the TU Chemnitz
  • Chemnitzpass owners
  • Danke- Card owners
  • Caretakers/Supervisors of severely handicapped persons
  • Caretakers/Supervisors of groups
  • Museum staff & colleagues – when showing service ID card, and or ICOM- or DMB  ID card
  • Members of “Freundeskreis des Museums für Naturkunde e. V. “
  • Journalists with valid press card
 
How can I book a tour?

Guides for children- and adolescent groups can be booked with Mrs. Ehle, the museum’s pedagogue. Special events within the Insectarium can be booked with Mr. Erlacher. Further information can be found in the “offers for children and adolescents” section.

Guide fee for groups from educational institutions – cost free

Guide fee for adult groups – 30,00 €

 

For our public guides, on every first Tuesday of the month, no registration is necessary. The individual themes of the guide tour can be checked at the event calendar (changes reserved). Information can also be gained at the cash register (telephone: 0371 – 4884366). We ask sincerely for you to meet up 10 minutes before the event begins at the cash register.

Public guides (price per person including entrance price; tour duration 1 – 1.5 hours) adult 5,00 €, reduced 2,50 €

Do you have special needs? Handicapped accessibility to the museum ensured!

Our museum is wheelchair accessible. The visitors can take the elevator to the first floor of the Tietz and have full wheelchair accessibility in the entire exhibition space. You are also invited to visit our exhibitions with a baby carriage.

A bathroom for handicapped people and a wrap space for babies can be found on the ground floor of the Tietz. You can receive the key at the museum's cash register.

Our museum’s pedagogue Mrs. Ehle also conducts events for participants with special needs. Please ask for it.

Can I take my dog to the museum?

For the safety of the animals and the exhibits, it is not allowed to take your pets to the museum. Guide dogs are permitted of course.

Where can I find details on tariffs for the entry?

The entry fees and other usage fees are being decided by the Chemnitz city council. The individual costs can be viewed in the document about fees and charges of the Museum für Naturkunde.
