Discovering fossils for the "inclination to culture"
Welcome to the "Window into the history of the earth"! Explore our excavation site with a quiz. Dig up fossilized treasures yourself in the "Geological Classroom". Or how about a glitter tattoo of your favorite fossil?
Unbelievable, but true: a petrified forest lies beneath the city of Chemnitz. We are excavating a piece of it here. Fossils such as Chemnitzion, a prehistoric amphibian, provide insights into the former primeval forest. It was covered by volcanic ash 291 million years ago and thus preserved.
