News about the largest ammonite in the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n The largest ammonite in the world comes from Germany. It has been world-famous since its discovery in 1895, but was previously not comparable with other ammonites due to its size. Similar ammonites have been found in North America. Christina Ifrim, the scientific director of the Jura Museum in Eichst\u00e4tt, worked on the historical and many previously unknown specimens with an international team of researchers and investigated two previously little-known sites in Mexico and England. There, the giants lie in the field, which has the advantage that the sequences can be easily dated using modern methods. The trips were associated with a number of adventures, but the effort was worth it: thanks to the many new field data and specimens, the world's largest ammonite is now much better understood.
