ON THE EXCAVATION
On the Sonnenberg, the Museum of Natural History is creating "Tacheles" - with the scientific excavation for the Chemnitz Petrified Forest, which has been running since 2012. Piece by piece, the image of a 291-million-year-old ecosystem is being pieced together from new pieces of the puzzle, which, like Pompeii, was preserved in a snapshot for eternity by a catastrophic volcanic eruption.
